Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) This is a measure of an air cleaners delivery of particle free air as calculated from independent laboratory tests. The higher the CADR, the faster the unit cleans the air. The measurement is in cubic metres and varies dependant upon the type of particles measured. The Electrostatic Filter The electrostatic air filters utilize synthetic material. As the air passes through the air filter it produces friction that creates a natural electrostatic charge between the polypropylene and the layers of bonded polyester fibres. The electrostatic charge attracts minute household dust particles to the electrostatic furnace filters like a magnet. This can be demonstrated by rubbing the surface of the filter with a cloth briskly and placing the filter over lightweight flakes of material such as tea leaves, or styrofoam chips. The small chips will be attracted to the filter surface and held there due to the charge that developed on the filter as a result of rubbing it. These dust particles consist of irritants and allergens such as bacteria, dust mites, pollen, fabric lint, plant & mould spores, human and pet dander and tobacco smoke. An electrostatic filter is generally effective in capturing particles 1 micron and larger. A micron is 1/25,000 of an inch. Some of the particles our filters are able to capture include house dust, lint, animal dander, pollen, mould spores, and skin flakes.
