Heavy Metal Wholehouse System

Our Heavy Metal Wholehouse unit has the added benefit of removing heavy metals as well as 99.99% of chlorine and organic compounds such as trihalomethane, pesticides, herbicides, polyaromatic hydrocarbons, phenols and VOCs.

Our heavy metal cartridge is specially made for The Healthy House. It contains KDF which removes dissolved gases such as chlorine, hydrogen sulphide and methane, controls bacterial growth, reduces levels of microorganisms and will remove virtually any soluble heavy metal. The heavy metal cartridge is used in the first housing to remove the heavy metals and also to act as a pre-filter. The filter housing carries a 5 year guarantee. Always allow 10cm below the unit for changing the filters. A whole-house water filter should ideally be combined with a drinking water system.

Heavy Metal Wholehouse System WW3HM
The WW3HM has two 25.4cm high housings and measures 36x19x36cm.
It has the capacity for 250,000 litres per year. The heavy metal and carbon block chlorine removal cartridges should be replaced once a year for a 4 person household and every 6 months for 6 people.

Heavy Metal Wholehouse System  WW6HM - for higher flow rate
If you have low water pressure, a combi boiler or a mega-flow system, we recommend the WW6HM, instead of the WW3HM. The WW6HM has one 25.4cm high housing for the heavy metal cartridge and a 50.8cm high housing that contains two 25.4cm carbon block chlorine removal cartridges. The WW6HM measures 69cm high. Capacity is for 250,000 litres per year.

The heavy metal and chlorine removal cartridges should be replaced annually for 4 people and every 6 months for 6 people. Can be plumbed in using rigid piping or it can be installed using the high flow fitting kit.

NSF, the independant testing company, have certified the components and filters.

Before & After
FAQs
What is the difference between the Standard Wholehouse and the Heavy Metal Wholehouse units?
The Heavy Metal Unit has the added benefit of removing heavy metals. If you know that there are high levels of heavy metals in your water, or if your still have old metal pipes in use, this would be the one to choose. If you are unsure as to the heavy metal levels in your water we would advise you to have your water tested by your local water board.

Do I need a separate drinking water system or can I drink the water from the wholehouse system?
The Heavy Metal Wholehouse Unit does improve the quality of the water by taking out the more common contaminants and the heavy metals. The whole house system is made to remove contaminants from a high flow of water. Since it is removing contaminants from the washing, flushing and drinking water it does not have the same filtering capacity as the drinking water systems.  In order to remove bacteria, cysts and trace organics, we recommend the addition of a drinking water system.

What is the difference between the WH3HM and the WH6HM?
The main difference is an increase in flow rate with the larger unit.  If you have low water pressure, a combi boiler or a mega-flow system we recommend the larger unit. The WH3HM and the WH6HM can be used for 4 people in the house if you change the filters once per year or for 6 people in the house if you change the filters every six months.

Who would install the unit?
Full instructions are supplied with the unit and can be installed by someone with good DIY skills. Alternatively a local plumber should have no problem installing this unit.

Is there a water pressure drop when using a Wholehouse Unit and if so, what is it likely to be?
There can be a 5% - 10% drop in pressure depending on which cartridges you have. (There is likely to a larger drop in pressure when using a single Carbon Block than when using two Carbon Blocks. If you have a megaflow system or already have low pressure a high flow kit will be needed.  If your flow rate exceeds 51/3bar (80psi) a pressure regulator must be fitted to reduce the pressure to 70psi.

How often should I change my filters?
The heavy metal filter should be changed every 6, 9, 12 months.  The carbon blocks every 6, 9, or 12 months depending on how many persons in the household.  Our Filter Reminder Service will automatically remind you in 12 months, should you require replacements earlier please let us know and we will update our records.

Does the Heavy Metal Wholehouse Unit take out oestrogens?
Activated carbon will remove organic compounds like oestrogen. The main cartridge in the wholehouse units is made of activated carbon.

GENERAL INFORMATION
When changing the filters in the whole house unit it is a good idea to run chlorinated water through the system for a couple of days. This sterilises the whole unit and gets chlorinated water through all the pipes.

Bore Holes -  If you have a bore hole please contact us for both wholehouse filtration and drinking water system advice.

The pressure requirement for town pressure is 3 bar.
